Do you remember Ophelia?
Her loyalty, her kindness, the depth of her love?
Do you remember how lovely she was, how she embodied the softness of feminity?
The madness?
I think of Ophelia often.

For as long as I can remember
I have looked out of these windows with blind eyes.
Searching for the truth of things. searching for myself...
It wasn't until i looked INTO them that I could finally see.

And I would remain in this place, not hot nor cold, not light nor dark, not in company, yet not alone, not here nor there, not in the past, and yet somehow not present.
At ease in the stillness of nothing.
Immortal in the threshold between life and death.

And I will protect her always.
Protect her from herself.
For I have felt the sting of
rejection and betrayal. I know the coldness of abandonment the pain that lurks in the darkness...the dispair.
I will keep her here, in the safety of the sameness,
just out of reach of all that may harm her.
Just out of reach of the light that might shine on her.... that might expose her.

I strive to show the light to her.
The warmth of it. To guide her.
To illuminate the world to her.
To show her visions of futures full of life and fulfillment.
I gently coax her to listen to my whispers of imagined greatness, who she could be and what she could do.
And yet her retort is always a sharp
"what if"...
And so I wait, tomorrow I will try again.

The rabbit must always run
while keeping a watchfull eye on the past, for the fox is in the past.
And the fox must always run with eyes locked onto the future, for the rabbit is in the future.
The fox must catch the rabbit to survive, and the rabbit must outrun the fox to survive. If either are successful, they have caused the death of the other.
